WHAT IS THE BOW TIE MARCH?
This annual event was developed by Healing Pathways-Cancer Resource Center to honor men who are cancer survivors and those who have been touched by cancer. The Bow Tie March for Menís Cancer Awareness is a one of a kind event to raise awareness of menís cancer and educate the community on wellness, prevention, and early detection.
The 2013 Bow Tie March, presented by Rockford Health System, will take place on Saturday, June 8 at Home Depot on Perryville Rd. This yearís event will include 1.5 mile March with an additional option of a 5K run along the Perryville bike path. The event will include a Health & Wellness Fair providing vital information on wellness, early detection, and prevention of cancer. Food and entertainment is provided for all event participants.
All event participants will receive a t-shirt. Registration for 5K run participants will take place from 6:15-7:00. Pre-registered runners can stop by Home Depot on June 6th from 5-7 pm for Early Check-In (or check-in the morning of the event). Pick up bibs, t-shirt, goodie bag and drop off additional donations at this time. Run begins at 7:30. Those only participating in the March can register beginning at 8:00 a.m. Bow Tie Event Ceremony and March step-off will begin at 9:00.
Bow Tie March "In Honor Of" signs can be purchased for a fee of $20.00. The name of the person you would like honored will be placed on the sign and signs will line the March path along Perryville Rd. Signs can be taken with you following the event.
